I was born in Manchester and after moving around the world I settled in Henley in 1968. I have spent the last 30 years working as a teacher.

I have now decided to get off the treadmill, withdraw from the rat race and vowed to do things in life that I wanted to do and that have a meaning. Hence my art.

My paintings are a search for myself. Each one individual to my moods and feelings. The aim is to capture a moment. I studied art when I was younger in a traditional and classical manner but now I deliberately pull away from rules. I want my work to be spontaneous and fresh, not hemmed in by stereotypes.

The textured paintings such as the one below are an example of my expression where the onlooker can interpret the flow of the colours and the stroke of the brush. Perhaps an inner quest for identity. A very personal search for the true self.

Summer Shadows

I have been an Art Teacher for most of my life and following retirement from Pangbourne College where I was the Head of the Arts Faculty I have continued to enjoy teaching adults at my own private classes in Bix, Henley on Thames as well as Marlborough Summer School.

I am programme secretary for the Henley Art and Crafts Guild as well as being involved with providing Art support to local schools.
